BSL Training Academy is an approved Training and Assessment Centre dedicated to offering training programmes to the highest standard. We have an excellent team of qualified Deaf and hearing professionals who, with their expert knowledge and experience are consistently able to ensure candidates achieve their goals year after year.
The Level 6 NVQ Certificate in BSL programme is available to both Deaf and hearing professionals.
Signature Level 6 NVQ Certificate in British Sign Language (QCF) is designed for learners who can understand and use complex language, express themselves fluently and deal confidently with most work situations. It is useful for those who work on a daily basis with Deaf people, as well as learners who wish to become Sign Language Interpreters.
This qualification uses the UK Occupational Language Standards (CILT 2010), which define competent performance in BSL in both receptive and productive units. Candidates are assessed by an internally assessed portfolio. Successful candidates can progress to Signature Level 6 NVQ Diploma in Sign Language Interpreting.
Unit BSL601 – Understand complex BSL in a wide range of work situations.
Topics covered: receptive skills for understanding complex presentations in work and social contexts, including discussions, negotiations and debates and handling a wide range of social interactions in different settings.
Unit BSL602 – Use complex BSL in a wide range of work situations.
Topics covered: productive skills of using complex language by giving presentations and taking part in discussions, negotiations and debates and handling a wide range of social interactions in different settings.
Tuesdays: 3rd October, 17th October, 7th November, 21st November, 5th December, 2nd January, 16th January, 30th January, 13th February, 6th March, 20th March, 17th April, 1st May, 15th May, 5th June, 19th June, 3rd July and 17th July.
Prior to candidate acceptance on the Level 6 NVQ Certificate in BSL course, each candidate must undertake an initial assessment. This involves assessment of BSL skills and a BSL conversation and video receptive skills assessment. All assessments will be recorded for quality evaluation.
Initial Assessment dates from today until Friday 29th September 2017.
Number of places: Minimum 6 candidates and Maximum 14 candidates per group.
