We have created this Privacy Notice to give you information on how we collect, keep and use information that identifies you.  This information is called 'Personal Data'.

It is important that you read this Privacy Notice so that you fully understand how and why we use your data.

Who are we?

CommPlus (Faircomplus Ltd) is a Sign Language Agency registered in England (company no. 05112408) with our Head Office at 2b The Green, Kings Norton, Birmingham, B38 8SD.

We are a single agency providing Sign Language Professionals to a number of organisations.  We have contracts with certain Local Authorities and NHS trusts.  We also provide interpreters, funded by the government, through Access to Work.

When we provide interpreters, under these contracts and arrangements, we receive some of your information.  We want to be honest about the information we collect, how we use it and who we share it with.  We also want you to know about the choices we give you to access and update your information.

We have appointed a 'lead person' who is responsible for all data enquiries.  If you would like to contact us about your data, please write to us at 2b The Green, Kings Norton, Birmingham, B38 8SD or email office@commplus.org.uk and label your request "FAO Data Lead".

Using your Data.

We use your data in different ways.  This is explained below.

Who do we Share your Data with?

So that we can give you the best service, we will sometimes need to share your personal information.  We will only do this to provide Clients and Sign Language Professionals with enough information to provide the service.

  • We will provide Sign Language Professionals with the name of the client and the location of the assignment.
  • We will provide clients with the name of their Sign Language Professional and their Registration Status.
  • If we think we need to share contact details, for the purpose of the assignment, we will always ask your permission before we share this.

How long will your Personal Information be kept?

We will hold your information for as long as we are required to, by law.  We keep information to allow us to meet legal requirements, resolve problems and to prevent fraud.

What control do you have over your information?

Under the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) you have some important rights.  These rights are free.

You have the right to:

  • Be told how your personal data is being used
  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Ask for us to transfer your data to a different service provider

  • Receive the personal data we have about you, in a structured and clear way.
  • Stop us contacting you to advertise our service

If you would like to use any of these rights, please email us at office@commplus.org.uk or write to us at 2b The Green, Kings Norton, Birmingham, B38 8SD.

You will need to give us enough information so we know who you are.
You will need to prove your identity to us.
You will need to let us know the information that your request relates to.

How do we keep your information secure?

We use good security measures to make sure your personal information is safe.  We make sure it is not accidently lost.  We make sure it is not accessed or used without authorisation.  Access to your data is limited to only the people who really need to see it.  These people are required, by terms of their employment and/or their Code of Professional Conduct, to keep this information secure and confidential.

We also have procedures in place to deal with any, suspected, data security breach.  This is where an unauthorised person has accessed your data, or any of your data has been accidently lost.  Although we are certain this won't happen, if it does, we will let you know.  We will also inform any appropriate regulator where we are legally required to do so.

How to Complain.

We hope you always feel our services are the best they can be, and that your information is safe with us. However, if you are not happy with how CommPlus manages your information, you have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. In the UK this is the Information Commissioner.  You can contact them at https://ico.org.uk/concerns/.
